ZZ Top band have released details of their forthcoming new record, which appears on the album are available "hopefully by the end of 2011" should.

Speaking to Houston's Fox 26, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons explained that the band's 2003 'Mescalero' is the first studio recording of "soon to hit the streets".

“We're preparing for the release of ZZ Top's next recorded work - soon to hit the streets - hopefully by the end of 2011. This year is gonna be a banner year on a number of levels but we're throwing our hat in the ring."

Gibbons continued that ZZ Top with legendary producer guru Rick Rubin have been working on new album. Speaking about the partnership.

He adds, “We have stepped out and joined forces with a notorious character within the record world...Mr. Rick Rubin. Rick has successfully brought in his particular piece of magic in offering a few suggestions, and basically stepped back and he said 'you really don't have to get much better; just do what you do'. He realizes the foundational piece of this great American art form of the blues penetrates so much of popular music, he said 'just turn it up and let's go'".

So what can fans expect from the new ZZ Top offering? Billy explained. "Since the music is a return to the early ZZ Top roots, I believe there's always that Tex-Mex accompaniment. I wouldn't be surprised if we leaned that direction again."

The guitarist explained, "We're having a blast. It's loud, it's fast... streamlined right on down the line. ZZ Top is just what it is."

Billy Gibbons has revealed that ZZ Top are working on their first studio album since 2003 and that it’s being produced by producer extraordinaire Rick Rubin. Gibbons told Spinner.com that his Texas trio will return to the studio following a small stint touring with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (who have also worked with Rubin).

“He’s very instrumental in striking a resonant chord,” Gibbons said. “He’s able to find ways to pull things out that you might not know were there in the first place.”

Although ZZ Top remain a popular band and a concert draw, they haven’t had a Top 10 album since 1990’s Recycler. Does Gibbons think that Rubin’s golden touch might return the band to the charts?

“There's more music now in every shape and form – something to please everybody,” he said. “I think the bigger challenge is: Where do you go to discover it? If you’re lucky, maybe word of mouth. Somebody will make a recommendation, and if you trust them, you might take the time to check it out.”

However, on the whole, he feels fortunate about ZZ Top’s standing in the music world.

“We’re kind of in the cat-bird seat,” Gibbons said. “We’re very fortunate that we’ve established a gangload of fans that may not have a place to go buy a CD but, by hook or by crook, they will either beg, borrow or steal it.”

ZZ Top concert gates opened at 7 p.m. and people take their tickets from 5 to 8 p.m. before the concert began. At the gate Steve Bennett and they friends group take tickets ready.

Bennett said to a salem native, "My favorite song is ZZ Top 'Pearl Necklace".

Waiting to pick up tickets to Keith Watson of Salem, said he's been a ZZ Top fan "since way back." Although from the band he doesn't have a favorite song, he's appear them perform various times.

He said, "Haven't appear 'em in a long time and can't wait to see them again". "They've been nice and every time."

Vendor Jenny Armitage has art paintings and mud work set up in Artisan's Village.

She said about the performances at the village stage, "You never know what you're going to get. There was a good to combine of people, blues and Native American drumming.

He said, "At the fair this is our first time. But we're gettin' the same love we do at home."

Doing a little dancing to Ty Curtis' tunes, Jerry and Patty Hall of Keizer said they came to see ZZ Top.

"We're going to come back on Sunday with the grandkids," Patty Hall said. "Today we saw the dinosaur exhibit, the Timbersports, and, well, basically everything."

Also in town to see ZZ Top, Crystal Parman and her boyfriend, Kevin Halloway of Eugene, said they've seen the Ty Curtis Band a couple of times before.

"But I haven't been to the fair since I was 5," Parman said.

Sure, you can play the blues with long beards, but when you actually want to get down and dirty, the right hat you still need.
And sunglasses. The cheaper the better.
Before ZZ Top launched into some authentic Delta blues at the MTS Centre Tuesday night, bearded guitarist vocalist Billy Gibbons changed into a fedora like his evenly hairy partner Dusty Hill in order to properly perform a cover of Willie Brown's Future Blues.
The shtick got a few laughs and added to the over all feel good vibe that the veteran Texas blues rock trio created during their 95-mintue set for a crowd of 4,000 fans.
The group -- Gibbons, bassist-vocalist Hill and drummer Frank Beard (you know, the one without any facial hair) -- mainly stuck to favourites from the 1970s and singles from the '80s, avoiding any material off their last studio album, 2003's Mescalero, and almost avoiding everything post 1983 entirely.
Not that anyone minded. It was the hits the audience wanted and the hits it got, along with a few covers from the likes of Brown, B.B. King and Jimi Hendrix.
The group took to the sparse stage and launched instantly into boogie-rocker Got Me Under Pressure, from 1983's Eliminator, ZZ Top's most successful album.
Next it was a double shot of tracks from 1973's Tres Hombres, with the mid-tempo Waitin' For the Bus and fuzzy sludge of Jesus Left Chicago, before 1994's Pin Cushion, a gravelly rocker that sounded like a Motorhead homage.
After four decades together, the band is perfectly in synch and there are no surprises. Gibbons and Hill even have some minimal stage moves down, moving their instruments and shuffling their feet together in time. They aren't the most dynamic group to watch, but it's about the music with ZZ Top, and these guys can still play -- Gibbons isn't considered a blues guitar God just because of his collection of customized axes.
The music isn't overly flashy and neither is the stage setup, which featured two sets of speaker cabinets strung together to look like they were tumbling, and a video screen behind the band showing a variety of images from car parts to girls.
The pace picked up during the end of the main set, when the trio of Eliminator hits -- Gimme All Your Lovin', Sharp Dressed Man and Legs -- followed each other in quick succession, with Gibbons and Hill playing their famous furry white instruments during Legs.
They returned for a three song encore, throwing out a version of Viva Las Vegas before the one-two punch of La Grange and Tush.
Straight from the "Those-guys-are still-a-band!?" file, Saskatoon's Wide Mouth Mason warmed up the crowd with a decent, if pedestrian, set of funkified blues based rock highlighted by an electrifying mid set guitar solo from Shaun Verreault.
The frontman announced that the group was about to begin work on a new album with ex Big Sugar/Grady leader Gordie Johnson, who was handling bass duties for the trio.

For all their simplicity and self professed lack of skill, pretty well manage ZZ Top.
It helps that their catalogue is among the best in the rock biz. Last night at the Save on Foods Memorial Centre, in what was their maiden Victoria appearance, the trio from Texas trotted out, among others, four hall-of-fame hits of their own, a pair of blues standards (Willie Brown's Future Blues and B.B. King's Rock Me Baby), an all-world classic (Jimi Hendrix's Hey Joe) and an Elvis tune (Viva Las Vegas).
Hard not to hit home runs with big bats like those.
The band, which frontman Billy Gibbons described last night as "three guys, three chords," uses every trick in the showbiz book, from jokes tailor-made for the host city to extending their big hit way past the point of usefulness (that would be La Grange, which fell flat).
In the hands of a lesser band, such sins would be unforgivable. But with ZZ Top, that little ol' band from Texas, it came across as canny craftsmanship.
There's something to be said for 40 years of service, and ZZ Top, which got its start so long ago that it can speak first hand about playing shows with Hendrix, has clearly learned how to perform during that time. That hard won experience covered up a few rough spots most of which revolved around Gibbons's at times frail voice and made the 19-song, 90-minute concert cook.
Power trios are driven by their rhythm section; without the bottom end locked and loaded, all the frontman firepower doesn't mean a thing. ZZ Top, which is anchored by bassist Dusty Hill, the band's secret weapon, and drummer Frank Beard, is proof of that. So, for argument's sake, is Wide Mouth Mason, which opened last night's concert. The group offered a 40 minute set that was both solid and solid sounding.
The latter was due to the band's killer bass- combo of Safwan Javed and Big Sugar's Gordie Johnson, who was sitting in for absent bassist Earl Perreira. The sound quality was great, unusual for a warm up act, and the songs were strong. All in all, a nice return to form for one of Canada's unsung bands.
The headliners had likely faced a similar situation before — solid opening act on its home turf before a favourable crowd — but seconds into ZZ Top's opening number, Got Me Under Pressure, the battle was over. Hill and Gibbons dropped their signature footwork, on cue and in time, and the crowd of 4,000 lost it. Game, set, match.
The fun never let up. As a segue into Future Blues, Gibbons was serviced with a "blues hat" by his "technician," who in typical ZZ style was a leggy dame in a cocktail dress. Never missing a step, he said, "This one is from1932. We wrote it."
The lead up to the encore was impeccable. A riff-heavy Just Got Paid was followed by two of the best songs of the night, Gimme All Your Lovin' and Sharp Dressed Man. Both sounded great, better than the recorded versions, which had a lot to do with Beard and the absence of electronic drums.
ZZ Top has brought its sound up through the ages. Remarkably, they're still like a little ol' band from Texas. And everybody knows you don't mess with Texas.

Rocks Off has been sitting on this information pretty much all day, and after teasing you on Twitter all day, it feels so good to finally get it off our chests. That's it right up there in the headline, more or less - Houston's hometown boyz ZZ Top have been tapped "by special arrangement" (your guess is as good as ours what that means) to open Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' Texas shows September 21 at Dallas' Superpages.com Center and September 24 at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
This is the sort of double bill that Rocks Off spends most of our days dreaming about, especially in light of this past weekend's Saturday Night Live, where Petty & the Heartbreakers made their umpteenth appearance on the late-night comedy show (as did host Alec Baldwin, for that matter) with a pair of scorched-earth blues numbers from new album Mojo, which hits record-store racks June 15 (thanks, Greg). Tickets are on sale now at livenation.com, and can be yours without a service fee through midnight tomorrow.
Even though Petty, if not the Heartbreakers per se, has been heading in this kind of Hendrix/Zeppelin/Cream direction for a while - see "Saving Grace," from 2006's Highway Companion, and both "Cabin Down Below" and "Honeybee" from 1994's Wildflowers, Petty's nominal "solo" albums - he and the rest of the Heartbreakers are will have to really bring it to beat Billy Gibbons' boogie chillun, especially in the Top's own backyard. Rocks Off can't wait to find out.

Fair's stage adds Maroon 5, ZZ Top

Two-time Grammy award winner Maroon 5 and classic rockers ZZ Top and Mick Fleetwood Blues Band are slated to play during the 2010 Kansas State Fair.

Fair Manager Denny Stoecklein also announced three country acts that will grace the Sprint Grandstand stage: Rodney Atkins and Blake Shelton. Opening for Shelton is James Otto.

"We have some great variety," Stoecklein said Thursday morning. "And we still have two more nights left to announce that will add to that variety."

He said fair officials are excited about signing on Maroon 5, which will have a new album released in the next month and just announced a major U.S. tour.

The R&B-influenced Maroon 5 is scheduled for Sept. 16. Their first album, "Songs About Jane," contained four hit singles - "Harder to Breathe," "This Love," "She Will Be Loved" and "Sunday Morning." Ticket price for the Thursday concert is $39.

Country music star Atkins - best known for his No. 1 hit, "Watching You" - will perform Sept. 12. Atkins has had five No. 1 singles in all, including "It's America" and "Cleaning This Gun." Ticket price for the Sunday concert is $25.

Shelton, whose song "Hillbilly Bone" is currently No. 1 on the charts, will be appearing at the Sprint Grandstand on Sept. 17. Overall, Shelton has had 17 singles on the country charts, including "The Baby" and "Some Beach." Newcomer Otto is recognizable for his single "Since You Brought It Up." Ticket price for the Friday concert is $28.

Closing the 10-day fair will be performances by ZZ Top and Mick Fleetwood Blues Band on Sept. 19. American blues/rock group ZZ Top played at the fair in 2005, drawing 6,850 people to the more-than-9,500-seat grandstand. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

Opening for ZZ Top is Fleetwood's band - a tribute to the 1967 Fleetwood Mac. The group includes veteran bluesman and former Fleetwood Mac vocalist and lead guitarist Rick Vito and legendary Mick Fleetwood, the drummer.

These acts join the previously announced classic rock group Foreigner, performing Saturday, Sept. 11, and comedian ventriloquist Terry Fator, who takes the stage on Monday, Sept. 13.

ZZ Top and Godsmack are among the rock bands scheduled to perform at the revamped " Rocklahoma" festival, set for Memorial Day Weekend (5/28-30) in Pryor, OK.
"Rocklahoma," which was established in 2007 as a classic-rock festival, has broadened its focus and this year, will feature a mix of rock bands from the '80s and '90s as well as current recording artists, according to a press release.

In addition to ZZ Top and Godsmack, the festival will feature performances by Tesla, Buckcherry, Cinderella, Chevelle, Theory of a Deadman, Saliva and Saving Abel. The fest also has booked Stone Sour, Janus, Burn Halo, The Glitter Boys, Within Reason, Adelitas Way, Aranda, Firstryke and Year Long Disaster, among others.

ZZ TOP guitarist BILLY GIBBONS shunned a chauffeur driven car ahead of the band's current gig in London deciding to test out the city's public transport network instead. The rocker wanted to experience the British capital as a tourist and joined the hordes of ZZ Top fans on the London Underground to make his way to Wembley Arena for last week's show (28Oct09). He explains, "To the disbelief of many I decided to take the Tube. Being the consummate tourist, I wanted to ride the Tube. Someone said, 'You know it may not be that bad of an idea because travel in London has not been known for its expedient way to get from A to B.' And off I went - it's only a block from the hotel down to the station." But the star hit problems when one of the train lines broke down, so he took the bus instead. He adds, "No sooner had I bought the ticket the agent informed me that the Circle Line had broken down. There was a guy on the (bus) route that was checking me out and it was getting a little edgy, and then I realised that he was looking at a ZZ Top concert ticket for the Wembley show. (But) I beat my partners by 45 minutes."

With fans constantly unleashing bootlegs from the band’s shows, Them Crooked Vultures have had a hard time keeping their new music under wraps.
Whether this band featuring members of Led Zeppelin, Queens of the Stone Age and Nirvana/Foo Fighters was actually ready to unveil its tracks, or whether it is simply a case of “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em,” TCV have given in to fan demand by posting a new clip for the song “New Fang.”

Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard the three rock stars have arrived in Bucharest on Sunday, to prepare for their concert today. At the Polivalenta Hall the gig kicks off at 8 PM. Formed in late 1969 in Houston, Texas, by Billy Gibbons (lead vocals and lead guitar), Dusty Hill (vocals, bass, and keyboards), and Frank Beard (drums). ZZ Top has been together for four decades, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and was ranked number 44 on VH1 cable’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.” ZZ Top plays Texas boogie and blues, and no one has done it longer than them. The trio’s enduring appeal owes much to their mastery of traditional rock forms. Guitarist Billy Gibbons, bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard were influenced by such blues masters as Freddie King, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker. Their songs are laden with pop-culture references and the determined pursuit of a good time. They visually connected with the MTV generation by virtue of Hill’s and Gibbons’ long beards and fur-lined guitars.Their earliest albums ZZ Top’s First Album (1970) and Rio Grande Mud (1971) gave them a chart hit, “Francene.” ZZ Top solidified their sound on Tres Hombres (1973) by recording in Memphis. The band holds the distinction of being among the few rock bands still composed of its original recording members for nearly 40 years. They reached peak commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s, scoring many hit songs during that era, but they remain together today and are still touring and releasing albums. For the Bucharest concert, the artists came with their 45 people crew, including several chefs who usually accompany the group in their tours. Arrangers say the three haven’t raised many pretensions for their stay in Romania, apart from a particular kitchen room at the Polivalenta Hall, and six special rooms prepared backstage. The concert tonight is part of the Double Down Live 2009 tour and will kick off at 7 P.M. with a music number from local folk-band Cri Gri. Tonight, after the show, the band will be heading to Sofia for their next performance on October 21. The price of a ticket was 120 RON in specialized stores, and will be 130 RON at entrance tonight.

Jay Z has sold out his date at London Alexandra Palace show in 15 seconds this morning (October 9).

Jay Z Tickets for the rapper's gig went on sale at 9am (BST), and were all snapped up moments later, according to the promoters Live Nation.

ZZ Top axe tour over ear illness

Rock band ZZ Top have cancelled their European tour to let a band member have treatment for an ear ailment.
Bassist and singer Dusty Hill needs treatment for a benign growth in his inner ear.

The tour was due to start on 15 June in Leipzig, Germany, and finish in Norway in early July.

Preliminary plans for his treatment do not include surgery so US concerts, due to start in Dallas on 15 July, are still expected to go ahead.
"I'm looking forward to dealing with this problem and getting back out there with Billy and Frank," Hill said. "I'm sure we'll put this behind us very shortly."

In a statement, Hill's otolaryngologist Dr Shawn Nasseri said: "In the near term, we plan to stabilise Dusty's hearing and symptoms with medication and a conservative management strategy."

The trio, who have been together for 38 years, and are known for the guitarists' trademark beards, performed and were honoured at the VH1 Rock Honors in Las Vegas on Saturday.

The cancellation comes seven years after Hill was diagnosed with Hepatitis C.

The on-again, off-again Aerosmith and ZZ Top show is officially off again.

But the advertiser -- for what was to be tonight's concert -- is cheering viewers to hold onto their tickets as he works to postpone the rock bands at Canad Inns Stadium before the finish of September.

On Thursday afternoon, dozens of crew members worked to tear down the massive stage set up in the north end of the stadium. Only 10,000 tickets had been sold for the 23,000-seat show, Taylor said.

Tyler fell while amusing the crowd by dancing around after the sound system failed during the song Love in an Elevator, said Mike Sanborn, spokesman for the Buffalo Chip Campground, which hosted the outdoor concert.

Tyler was on the stage's catwalk when he fell backward onto a couple of fans in the middle of what was a record crowd, Sanborn said. Security rushed to help him and the crowd cheer when Tyler got back up.

The band's present tour with ZZ Top has been a coarse one on Tyler. The group was affected to cancel seven events last month when he upset his leg during a June 28 concert in Connecticut.

"It just happens in this business," Taylor laughed. "It's rock 'n' roll."

In July 2008, the band announced they have signed with producer Rick Rubin and are recording a new album. Rubin will be producing the next album, and it has been reported that the band will be aiming to move back to their pre-80's La Grange sound.

The Eliminator Collector's Edition CD/DVD celebrating the 25th anniversary of the band's iconic RIAA Diamond Certified album was released September 10, 2008. The release includes seven bonus tracks (five of which are previously unreleased live cuts from 1983) and a bonus DVD (including the four concept videos originally associated with the album and four live performances from a 1983 British television program).

On the 19th of February 2009 it was announced ZZ Top will be making an appearance at the Download Festival held annually at Donington Park.
On April 9, 2009, Aerosmith announced that ZZ Top will be accompanying them on their upcoming tour of their new album.

On May 17, 2009 ZZ Top headlined the MMRBQ at the Susquehanna Bank Center - Camden, NJ.

In July 2009 the band appeared on VH1's "Storytellers".

On July 20, 2009, Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill appeared on WWE Monday Night Raw as the special guest hosts.

ZZ Top is an American blues rock group shaped in 1969 in Houston, Texas. The group members are Billy Gibbons (vocals and guitar), Dusty Hill (bass guitar and vocals), and Frank Beard (drums). They grasp the difference of being one of the few rock groups still consists of its original members for nearly 40 years, and until 2006, with the unchanged manager/producer, Bill Ham.

They attained the peak of their commercial achievement in the 1970s and 1980s, positioning many hit songs during that era; but they keep on together today and are still doing a tour and launching albums. ZZ Top was introduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 15, 2004.

Nearly as renowned as their music is the band’s appearance: Gibbons and Hill are always shown wearing sunglasses (a nod to their 1979 song “Cheap Sunglasses”), similar (if not matching) clothing, and their trademark chest-length beards, while Beard sports a mustache but not a beard. In 1984, the Gillette Company reportedly offered Gibbons and Hill US$1 million apiece to shave their beards for a television commercial, but they refused.
